Linhart PR participates in PRSA Colorado’s Shadow Day each year, hosting a student from a nearby college or university to offer a hands-on public relations experience. This is a great tradition that gives students an in-depth look into a career in PR and communications.
This year, we were pleased to host Jacob Blair, a corporate communications student from Black Hills State University. Jacob spent the morning participating in a PRSA panel and Q&A with local professionals including Linhart PR Account Supervisor Tassi Herrick. Then he joined our team members at the PRSA Colorado luncheon “Podcasting 101 for PR Pros” that explained how to pitch or help clients start their own podcasts. Jacob finished his afternoon with the Linhart PR team in our Denver office.
Here’s what Jacob had to say about his Shadow Day experience:
- What was your key takeaway?
Communication is key. It was great to see the Linhart PR team collaborate to achieve intended goals and clearly communicate roles. There is a high level of professionalism and expectations for the quality of work expected from all team members. Linhart PR also gives their clients voices and helps them reach their target communities in effective ways.
- How was the overall experience?
My experience with Linhart PR was outstanding. The staff was friendly and ready to answer all of my questions. I had the opportunity to complete some of the everyday duties that Linhart PR tackles, and I will continue to build off of the experience that I gained through those assignments.
- What was your favorite part of Shadow Day?
My favorite part of Shadow Day was the opportunity to meet a diverse group of professionals. I was able to engage with new and exciting public relations practitioners in a variety of fields. I appreciate the diverse culture and variety of the organizations represented throughout my experience.
